At the end of the workout the varsity offense went against the B-Team defense and the objective was to score. After sputtering a little early in the 11-on-11 match up the A-Team got in going. Toombs plays host to East Laurens on Friday at 7:30 on Y-101 radio. On Monday the Bulldogs emphasized defense on a wet practice field. Listen to coach Shane Williamson Audio "Here and There" game is history Due Tropical Storm Fay, the "Here and There" scrimmage game between Toombs County and McIntosh County has been cancelled and will not be played. The Bulldogs next game will be their season opener on Friday August 29 at home versus East Laurens. The "Here and There" game had an interesting history as it changed venues four times including twice on Thursday. It bounced from Lyons to Darien back to Lyons and then to Darien again before eventually disappearing into the great beyond.  The unheard Robinson interview Y-101 Radio interviewed McIntosh County Academy coach  Robby Robinson. Unfortunately, there was no game and the interview never made it to air. Perhaps, the Bulldogs and the Bucs will run into each other in the playoffs, if so, listen to the interview here Audio Bulldogs reel off third straight "good" practice For the third straight day head football coach Shane Williamson told his Toombs County Bulldogs that they had a good day of practice. The defense looked particularly tough working in short yardage situations. The Bulldogs, also, had a visitor on Wednesday as the WJCL sports camera interviewed Williamson and seniors- Demery Hawkins, Neal Rodgers and Taylor Dowd (pictured above). The Bulldogs worked on offense, defense and special teams and ended the day by doing some serious running. In order not to damage their improving practice turf the Bulldogs worked mostly on defense on the school's old softball field. They worked on goal line offensive and their passing and running game out of their spread offense. In all the Bulldogs ran about ninety offensive plays. The Dawgs did some hitting and worked on defense, than special teams and finally offense. Head coach Shane Williamson called it a "good" first day in full gear. Y-101 Story  Watch the Bulldogs do some hitting  Video  Bulldog Slide Show  Bulldogs wrap up first week The Toombs County Bulldogs first week of practice ended on Thursday with a one hour and fifty minute workout that was halted 10 minutes early because of rain and lightning. Their last practice before putting on the full gear was conducted in very comfortable conditions. Instead of practicing with a heat index of above 110 degrees, like earlier in the day, the Bulldogs got a break with an 80 degree afternoon. TCHS worked on both defense and offense before breaking for the weekend. Wake up call was at 6 a.m. and the full day ended at midnight after a three hour practice under the lights. The Bulldogs worked on defense in the morning, special teams during the afternoon and on defense at night. The team also ate breakfast and lunch at Chatters and they had grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner. Coach Shane Williamson wraps up Day 2  Audio Friday night lightning Means a late "Friday Night Lights" for the Dawgs The Toombs County Bulldogs first football practice turned into a basketball "Midnight Madness". The Bulldogs, who were scheduled to start at 8 p.m., were delayed until 10 o'clock because of lightning in the area. Their two-hour practice ended shortly after midnight and after a shower and a snack it was lights at the middle school at 12:50 a.m. The Bulldogs are conducting a camp this year and on Saturday and Sunday they will be working out three times a day. In their first practice the Bulldogs went 11-on-11, for most of the night, with quarterback C.J. Scott running the spread offense. So lifting was more challenging than usual. Shines on last day of Spring Practice  Day 8 Spring Practice  On Thursday the Toombs County Bulldogs wrapped up their two weeks of spring practice with a scrimmage and number one quarterback C.J. Scott led the Bulldogs first string offense to three scores in three possessions. C.J. completed 11-of-16 passes and the first nine balls that he threw were catchable. Only two of his 16 throws were not catchable.  Y-101 Story Watch the Dawgs on their final day of spring practice Video  Day 7- The Bulldogs want more Day 7 Spring Practice  On Wednesday the Toombs County Bulldogs wrapped up practice with a spirited short yardage drill. It was the offense against the defense from the five-yard line. The Dawgs were so into this drill that they didn't want to stop, so they asked for more. The Bulldogs also went 11-on-11 with Alex Jenkins catching a TD pass to complete a 95-yard drive. Y-101 Story  Watch the Dawgs at work in pads Video  Second day in pads is more physical    Day 6 Spring Practice  On Tuesday the Toombs County Bulldogs increased their intensity in their second day in pads and head coach Shane Williamson was pleased with their physical play and also their offensive execution in an 11-on-11 scrimmage between the number one offense and the number two defense. QB C.J. Scott had two long runs and T.J. The consensus, of both the coaches and the players, was that the team did not maintain its intensity throughout the entire practice. Y-101 Story Watch the Dawgs at work in pads Video  Bulldogs undefeated B-Teamers seek PT   Day 4 Spring Practice  On Thursday several members of the undefeated Toombs County 2007 B-Team were getting reps with the first unit on both offense and defense. The Bulldogs wrapped up their first week of spring practice and they were thanked for their efforts by head coach Shane Williamson. This coming season the Bulldogs will run a five man front and the Dawgs number one defense has the nice combination of size upfront and speed at linebacker and in the secondary. Y-101 Story  Watch the D at work  Video  Bulldogs run the spread on second day   Day 2 Spring Practice  On Tuesday, after doing their individual drills, the Toombs County Bulldogs ran their new spread offense against air with C.J. Scott playing quarterback for the first team and T.J. Smarts throwing the ball for the second unit. Both QB's completed numerous passes and Scott hit Terrence Johnson with a deep ball for a touchdown. Y-101 Story  Video Shane's first day on the field Day 1 Spring Practice  Monday's opening day of spring football practice was Shane Williamson's first day on the field as the head coach of the Toombs County Bulldogs.
