Junior Boys (14-under) at Dublin

On Thursday. Lyons beat Dublin 8-4 in the first game of the championship round  of the district tourney. So the whole tournament came down to one game. Lyons took a 6-0 lead after two innings, but Dublin rallied by scoring seven straight and won the game and a trip to state with a 7-6 victory.  Audio story  

On Wednesday, Lyons scored five runs with two outs in the seventh and came back and beat Vidalia 8-4. Lyons entered the top of the seventh trailing 4-3. Lyons also defeated Effingham 11-2 to move into the championship round.  Audio story

On Monday, the two rivals played a gem of an offensive game with plenty of big hits and four total home runs. Vidalia opened up a 10-4 lead after 2 1/2 innings. Zach Burton hit two home runs- a solo shot in the second and a three-run homer in the third. Justin Brinson also hit a solo home run for Vidalia in the fifth. Lyons rallied by scoring two in the third and three in the fifth and pulled to within two runs at 11-9 going to the sixth. In bottom of that inning Brett Jernigan hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 11. Vidalia won the game in the top of the seventh when Layton Jones doubled with two outs. Devon Carter followed with a walk and Marcus Rhodes drove both of them in with a double to give Vidalia a 13-11 victory. Lyons will play on Wednesday at 6 p.m. on Y-101 (100.9 FM) radio. Yes the game is on Wednesday. The tourney bracket has changed because Thomson dropped out.   Audio story     

Junior Girls (14-under) at Ed Smith

Vidalia beat Lyons 11-5 to win the district and a trip to state.

Lyons beat Swainsboro on Tuesday 16-2 to move into the championship round with Vidalia.Audio story

Lyons beat Swainsboro 18-4 in the first round. Elizabeth Kirley and Ashley Polk each had two hits and Tiffany Fowler was the winning pitcher. Vidalia beat Lyons in the second game 15-4. Lyons will play Swainsboro on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.     

Midget Boys (12-under) at Effingham County

The Lyons Boys were eliminated from the tournament by Waynesboro 9-0 on Monday.

The Lyons Boys lost a tough winners bracket game 3-2 to Thomson. Lyons took a 2-1 lead when Ethan Quinterro scored on an error and Bailey Salter drove in a run. Thomson won the game in the final inning on a two-strike, two-run homer. Hunter Braddock pitched a low hit game.

Earlier on Saturday, Lyons trailed Twin City 5-0. But Lyons came back and won the game 7-6. Cody Dowd had a big double and Hunter Braddock drove in a run to put Lyons up 6-5 and Jordan Powell made it 7-5 with a RBI hit. Lyons scored four runs in the fifth.

On Friday night, Lyons broke a 5-5 tie by scoring nine runs in the fourth inning in a 14-5 win over Rincon. Chandler Wright doubled in two runs with a left field bomb, Quinterro doubled in two runs and Josh Powell had two hits including a RBI double. Quinterro pitched the first 2 1/3 innings and Scott Bowman worked 1 2/3's and  Salter pitched the fifth and final inning. 

Vidalia is undefeated in the winners bracket after wins over Statesboro and Swainsboro. On Monday Vidalia plays Thomson at 6 p.m. and Lyons will play at 3 p.m.      

Midget Girls (12-under)  at Sweetwater Park

Lyons opened up the tourney on Monday with a 13-0 loss to Thomson.

Mite Boys (10-under) at Partin Park

The Lyons Boys were eliminated by Thomson 9-7. 

The Lyons Boys dropped their first game of the tourney to Swainsboro 13-1 on Saturday morning. But Lyons came back later in the day and beat Effingham 13-1. After leaving two runners on base in a scoreless first and second inning, Lyons started scoring runs in the third. Lyons scored two in the third on an error and a fielders choice. In the fourth Logan McGowan and Carlos Eason each singled in a run and Effingham chipped in an unearned run to make it 5-0. In the fifth McGowan, Manuel Hernandez, Braxton Bellflower and Will Chambliss each singled in a run. Eason singled in two runs and Jordan Usher doubled to the left center field fence. Lyons will play Monday at 6 p.m.  Braxton Bellflower and coach James McGowan talk about the win over Effingham  Audio       

Mite Girls (10-under) at Swainsboro

The Lyons Girls were eliminated by Thomson 6-5. Lyons came back in their final at bat and scored four times to make it a one-run game. Lyons is going to the state tournament because they are hosting the tourney.
