2008-09 School Year TCMS Basketball Schedule TCMS basketball- Girls win, Boys battle back The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams played their final home games before the New Year on Monday. The Lady Bullpups jumped to a 13-1 lead over East Laurens and won the game 27-12. Kayla Collins scored a game-high 11 points. The Bullpups fell behind by double digits in the first half, but they came back and cut the East Laurens' lead to four before losing 54-45. Anthony Britt led TCMS with 18 points and Paul Brewton chipped in 12. Y-101 Story  Watch Highlights of both games  Girls Game  Boys Game    Lady Bullpups win at the end Jamella Hopkins scored two inside buckets in the final two minutes, including the game winner with eight seconds left, to give the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups a 34-32 come-from-behind win over J.R. Trippe in Lyons. The Lady Bullpups trailed 16-5 in the opening half and 18-13 at halftime. Diamond Boyd led TCMS with 10 points and Hopkins had eight. Trippe won the boys game 44-17 TCMS roundball season is underway The Toombs County Bullpups, who were coming off a close win at Swainsboro, lost to Dublin 38-30 on Monday at home. Y-101 Story Bullpups season ends in Swainsboro The Toombs County Bullpups were hoping to get off to a good start in their first round playoff game at Swainsboro. However, the Pups yielded three quick touchdowns in the first quarter and their season ended with a 32-12 loss. The Bullpups scored both of their touchdowns in the second half. Jamar Smith scored on a fourth down play in the third quarter and on a short run late in the fourth. Kevin Goethe had a long run to set up the second score and quarterback Cody Dowd had a handful of tough runs to help out on both drives. The Bullpups took the opening kickoff and drove inside the 10-yard line. However, the drive ended on an incomplete pass. Trippe, the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups opened up practice for their trip to Dodge County by getting physical. Coach Randy Callahan wants his team to put together drives on offense, when they aren't making big plays, and to toughen up on defense. Y-101 Story  Watch TCMS practice in this Bullpup Slide Show    Chiefs beat Bullpups  The first meeting in four years between the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups and the J.R. Trippe Chiefs was scoreless after the opening quarter. However, the Chiefs pulled away for a 30-0 win in Lyons. The B-Team Football Bulldogs beat Southeast Bulloch, on the road, 22-2 while over in Eastman the Lady Bulldog softball team was no-hit and run ruled by Dodge County 8-0. Y-101 Story Lady Bullpups breakaway from Bleckley early  In their final regular season game the Toombs County Lady Bullpups had to come from behind to beat Bleckley on Tuesday at home. However, in their first playoff game they scored five runs in the second and beat Bleckley 8-2 in Lyons on Saturday. TCMS pitcher Jeannie Smith got a strikeout with two outs and runners on second and third in the first inning and then she struck out the next four batters in the second and third. Smith finished the game with her ninth strikeout. Meagan Meadows snagged three line drives at second base and Charley Foskey drove in two runs with two perfectly placed bunts. Lakayla Faison had three hits including a triple all in a week in which she she hit two triples, one homer and a bunch of singles. Pitcher Jeannie Smith shutout Swainsboro for the first four innings. Quarterback Clay Callahan threw touchdown passes to Kevin Goethe and Anthony Britt. The team worked on fundamentals including tackling drills. The Bullups also threw the ball around a little. Y-101 Story  Watch the Bullpups practice on a hot, sunny day Video  Watch the Bullpups practice Video   Wilhite wins big with Team Georgia Kalin Wilhite, who is a freshman at Toombs County High School recently wrapped up his middle school career by winning the freestyle title in his weight division at the Georgia Games. Wilhite also joined Team Georgia for a trip to Indianapolis for the School Boy Duels and despite wrestling bigger guys he went 18-4 in freestyle and Greco competition. Y-101 Story   2007-2008 School Year  Bullpups' season ends with loss in the semifinals  The Toombs County Bullpups baseball season ended in the semifinal game of the Southeast Georgia Middle School Tournament with a 12-2 loss at ECI. In the first round the Bullpups beat Reidsville 9-4. Brandon Driggers pitched a complete game and outfielders Jordan Powell and Jacob Holland each went 2-for-2 with a RBI. Check out some highlights from Partin Park Video     Baseball Bullpups off to a 4-1 start After dropping a game to Glennville, the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups rallied for a 10-6 win over Metter and a 9-8 victory over Dodge County. M.J. Mabey tripled in two runs and also got out of a bases loaded situation with a strikeout in the final inning. The Bullpups will play Bryan County on Friday at 4 p.m. on the big field at Partin Park. The Bullpups talk about their last two wins. Audio  Watch the Bullpups practice Video   TCMS soccer teams open season with victories In a game that was decided by penalty kicks, the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups nipped Bleckley County in Lyons. The Pups converted on all five of their PK's and goalie Trey Brewer stopped one of Bleckley's shots. Jamie Cabrera sealed the win with a low shot to the left of the goalie. Bleckley County scored a goal at the end of the first half and Toombs County tied the game on a goal by Alex Zamorano, assisted by Luke Stroud, with 9:19 remaining to send the game to penalty kicks. Watch highlights of the game Video   The Lady Bullpups beat Bleckley 5-2. Antrenette Blount scored two goals and Claudia Zamorano, Jalish Knight and Melayna Denmark each scored one. Georgia Jernigan was the winning goal keeper.    Bullpups win opening round game  The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups won their opening round playoff game 37-32 over Long County in Lyons. Video  TCMS takes care of Bryan County The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams took care of Bryan County in home action on Monday. The Bullpups avenged a double-digit loss to Bryan with a 40-30 victory and the Girls outscored Bryan 8-0 in the third quarter in a 27-21 win. Dominique Hawkins led the Bullpups with 15 points and Brandon Driggers scored 11. Megan Hayes topped the Lady Bullpups with seven points and Courtney Wynn and Jamelle Hopkins each had six. Video       TCMS sweeps Long County again The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams swept Long County for a second time this season winning a doubleheader in Lyons.  The Lady Bullpups, a 21-16 winner, were led by Georgia Jernigan who scored seven points including the go-ahead bucket in the fourth quarter. Megan Hayes had six points and Courtney Wynn had five. The Bullpups broke open a close game in the second half and won 42-29. Dominique Hawkins scored 12 points, Brandon Driggers had eight and Nathan Roach seven. Watch second half highlights from both games. TCMS beat Long County and North Tattnall to make it to the title game. Mabey scored on a fourth down keeper from a foot out, with 2:54 to play, to give the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups a 14-8 semifinal win over North Tattnall in Reidsville. The Bullpups also scored a first half touchdown on fourth down on a Mabey pass to tight end Brandon Driggers. The Bullpups will play for the championship on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Glennville Video - 1st Quarter  2nd Quarter  3rd Quarter  4th Quarter      Bullpups' running game wins playoff game The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups used their strong running to open up a 38-6 lead in what turned out to be a 46-28 win over Long County in the first round of the playoffs. Trey Wingate and Keilo Bagley each scored two touchdowns and Gabriel Winston and Luke Stroud had one apiece. Mabey scores Bullpups' second TD  Bullpups win at home  The Toombs County Middle School Football team beat Bryan County 26-8. Trey Foreman scored on a 60-yard run, M.J. Mabey capped a drive with a one-yard QB keeper, Gabriel Winston scored on a 40-yard run and Trey Wingate plowed his way in from five yards. The Lady Bullpups pounced on slow pitching- Hayley Carter hit a grand slam and a single and Georgia Jernigan hit a home run. Ginny Smith struck out six batters. The Bullups went 11-on-11 at the end of practice and worked on their running and passing plays.
