| Coming off a one-sided loss the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups outscored visiting Dodge County 23-9 in the second half of a 35-12 victory. Jamar Smith led TCMS with 10 points. Michael Sulton had nine, Richard Shipman eight, Kenny Goethe six and Brandon Dowd two. Dodge took the girls game 32-23. Lady Pups sweep Trippe
| A 25-20 home win gave the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups a regular season sweep of rival J.R. Trippe. The Lady Pups broke away from Trippe with their full court press and turned a 9-9 game at half into a 10-point lead on the fourth quarter. The Toombs County Middle School girls opened up the new year with two big wins. Shantel Taylor scored 14 points in the Lady Bullpups 32-24 win at Swainsboro and then at home Taylor tossed in 11 as Toombs beat Dublin 32-26. Bullpups rally for second win
| The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups rallied from a 13-3 first quarter deficit and they defeated Bleckley County 34-31 for their second win of the season. Kenny Goethe hit a variety of shots and led TCMS with 15 points, Chris Mobley scored seven and Richard Shipman had six. The Lady Bullpups trailed 13-1 after the opening quarter. Bullpups drop a close one

The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups lost a close home game to West Laurens 25-22. Pups point guard Richard Shipman tied the game at 22 by hitting a 15-footer. However, West Laurens won the game with 12 seconds to go on a bucket and a free throw. Jamar Smith led 0-3 TCMS with seven points. Shipman, Kenny Goethe and Chris Mobley each scored four points. | The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams opened the season with a split with visiting Swainsboro. The Lady Bullpups won 30-18 and the Bullpups lost 31-27. Deavia Howard led the Lady Bullpups with 11 points, Shantel Taylor had eight and Diamond Boyd seven. Kenny Goethe topped the Bullpups with 11 and Richard Shipman had eight. | The Dublin Irish scored two first half touchdowns and two more in the second half in winning the Middle Georgia Middle School Championship 32-0 in the Shamrock Bowl. The Irish scored a touchdown midway through the second quarter on an 18-yard run and another with 14 seconds remaining before halftime on a 97-yard interception return. Dublin made it 24-0 just 28 seconds into the second half on a 58-yard TD run and 32-0 with 2:10 left in the third on a 35-yard run. Watch highlights Video Practice Slide Show |
Bullpups hold on again,
Now its on to the championship game
| The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups jumped to a 14-0 lead on touchdown runs by Garrett Gray and Kenny Goethe. But just like in their first round playoff win over West Laurens, the Pups had to hold on to beat Bleckley County 14-12 in the semifinals in Cochran. In a first round playoff game the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups had to come back from a 22-14 halftime deficit and then once they took the lead on a Jamar Smith 12-yard touchdown run, James Ethredge had to intercept a pass near the goal line with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game to send the Pups to the second round with a 28-22 victory. | The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups closed out their regular season schedule with their fourth straight win, a 44-24 victory at East Laurens. Jamar Smith scored two touchdowns including a 98-yarder at the end of the third quarter. James Ethredge threw two TD passes to Marcus Trull for 15 and 20-yards. Jamar Smith and Kenny Goethe each scored two touchdowns as the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups opened their season with a 28-0 home win over Swainsboro. Smith scored on a short run in the first quarter and a long kickoff return to start the second half. Goethe scored on a long run from scrimmage and he turned a short pass from quarterback James Ethredge into six points. Zuquion Gaffney, Anthony Toby and Austin Powell each picked off a Swainsboro pass.

The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups wrapped up an undefeated soccer season by beating the Ebenezer Eagles 2-1 at home. The Bullups pressured the Eagles' net constantly in the first half, but they were unable to slip in a goal. Rene Tinoco put Toombs up 1-0 with 23 minutes to play in the second half with a shot into an empty net and then Ebenezer tied the game less than four minutes later. The Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups ended their season with a 6-0 home win over Bryan County on a very windy day. | The Toombs County Middle School soccer teams continued their fine early season play by sweeping Long County with a pair of home shutout victories. | Samantha Shutto kicked a penalty kick into the right side of the net to give the Toombs County Lady Bullpups a 5-4 PK win over rival J.R. Trippe. The Lady Chiefs took a 2-0 lead in PK's and then Toombs tied it up at three-all and four-all before Shutto ended the match with her game winning boot. Just like the Toombs County High School wrestling team at state, the younger Toombs County wrestlers brought home two state championships. Seventh grader JD Rogers won the heavyweight title with a first period pin at the USA Georgia Big Kids Tournament in Roswell and Garrett Gillis, age eight, won his championship with a pin just 36 seconds into the opening period at the USA Georgia State Tourney in Fayette County. | The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams wrapped up the regular season with home losses to Bleckley County. Bleckley won the girls game 35-11 and the boys game 23-17. Long day for TC basketball

Toombs County basketball teams were on the court from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Saturday and the results were not favorable. The Toombs County High School teams both lost home games to Screven County. The Bulldogs, who trailed 24-10 after the first quarter, dropped their third straight game 61-52. The Bulldog bench topped the team in scoring with Jerome Johnson tallying 15 points and Daniel NeSmith 13. The Lady Bulldogs, who trailed 28-21 at half, lost 62-41. Corneshia Corouthers scored 17 points and Brianna Mincey 13. The Bulldog B-Team Boys team lost 63-39.
At J.R. Trippe, the Toombs County Middle School Lady Bullpups were a 28-19 loser and the Bullpups lost 39-33. | After a loss to Swainsboro the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups drastically changed their style of play. They went to a full court press and they borrowed the open post "Zero" offense that the Toombs County High School Bulldogs have been running for years and the end result was a 44-27 home win over West Laurens. The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams played their final home games before the New Year on Monday. The Lady Bullpups jumped to a 13-1 lead over East Laurens and won the game 27-12. Kayla Collins scored a game-high 11 points. The Bullpups fell behind by double digits in the first half, but they came back and cut the East Laurens' lead to four before losing 54-45. | The Toombs County Bullpups were hoping to get off to a good start in their first round playoff game at Swainsboro. However, the Pups yielded three quick touchdowns in the first quarter and their season ended with a 32-12 loss. The Bullpups scored both of their touchdowns in the second half. | The first meeting in four years between the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups and the J.R. Trippe Chiefs was scoreless after the opening quarter. Lady Bullpups breakaway from Bleckley early
| In their final regular season game the Toombs County Lady Bullpups had to come from behind to beat Bleckley on Tuesday at home. However, in their first playoff game they scored five runs in the second and beat Bleckley 8-2 in Lyons on Saturday. TCMS pitcher Jeannie Smith got a strikeout with two outs and runners on second and third in the first inning and then she struck out the next four batters in the second and third. Smith finished the game with her ninth strikeout. Meagan Meadows snagged three line drives at second base and Charley Foskey drove in two runs with two perfectly placed bunts. Wilhite wins big with Team Georgia
| Kalin Wilhite, who is a freshman at Toombs County High School recently wrapped up his middle school career by winning the freestyle title in his weight division at the Georgia Games. Wilhite also joined Team Georgia for a trip to Indianapolis for the School Boy Duels and despite wrestling bigger guys he went 18-4 in freestyle and Greco competition. Y-101 Story |

Bullpups' season ends with loss in the semifinals
The Toombs County Bullpups baseball season ended in the semifinal game of the Southeast Georgia Middle School Tournament with a 12-2 loss at ECI.
In the first round the Bullpups beat Reidsville 9-4. Brandon Driggers pitched a complete game and outfielders Jordan Powell and Jacob Holland each went 2-for-2 with a RBI. Check out some highlights from Partin Park Video |

Baseball Bullpups off to a 4-1 start
After dropping a game to Glennville, the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups rallied for a 10-6 win over Metter and a 9-8 victory over Dodge County. M.J. Mabey tripled in two runs and also got out of a bases loaded situation with a strikeout in the final inning. The Bullpups will play Bryan County on Friday at 4 p.m. on the big field at Partin Park. TCMS soccer teams open season with victories
In a game that was decided by penalty kicks, the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups nipped Bleckley County in Lyons. The Pups converted on all five of their PK's and goalie Trey Brewer stopped one of Bleckley's shots. Jamie Cabrera sealed the win with a low shot to the left of the goalie. Bleckley County scored a goal at the end of the first half and Toombs County tied the game on a goal by Alex Zamorano, assisted by Luke Stroud, with 9:19 remaining to send the game to penalty kicks. The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams took care of Bryan County in home action on Monday. The Bullpups avenged a double-digit loss to Bryan with a 40-30 victory and the Girls outscored Bryan 8-0 in the third quarter in a 27-21 win. Dominique Hawkins led the Bullpups with 15 points and Brandon Driggers scored 11. Megan Hayes topped the Lady Bullpups with seven points and Courtney Wynn and Jamelle Hopkins each had six. The Toombs County Middle School basketball teams swept Long County for a second time this season winning a doubleheader in Lyons. The Lady Bullpups, a 21-16 winner, were led by Georgia Jernigan who scored seven points including the go-ahead bucket in the fourth quarter. Megan Hayes had six points and Courtney Wynn had five. Quarterback M.J. Mabey scored on a fourth down keeper from a foot out, with 2:54 to play, to give the Toombs County Middle School Bullpups a 14-8 semifinal win over North Tattnall in Reidsville. The Toombs County Middle School Bullpups used their strong running to open up a 38-6 lead in what turned out to be a 46-28 win over Long County in the first round of the playoffs.
